British Costume Association
(Craft Design/Companies)
British Costume Association
The British Costume Association (originally the British Fancy Dress and Allied Trades Association) was set up in 1986 to act as a trade organization and united voice for those in the fancy-dress business. Many of the founding firms still remain, but our members are now involved in a much wider spectrum of costume wholesale or retailing activity or costume-related services. The Association seeks to encourage sound principles of trading and to organize two trade shows annually for the benefit of members - a two-day event, usually in April or May, and a one-day Cash and Carry sale at the end of September. Non-members in the trade are also able to attend such shows, but on payment of an admission fee (currently 5 per person). Because we have members in all parts of the United Kingdom (and some overseas), we do try and move the shows and events around the country, but much depends on finding suitable venues which meet the criteria of both our exhibitors and those wishing to attend. The BCA and some of our member firms have also exhibited at the International Party Show held at the NEC, Birmingham in April, but this is a more broadly based and targeted show than our own.

Reflecting the generous nature of its participants, BABA is not exclusive and does not vet membership.
