The NRCD is a national archive and information centre for dance. It comprises an archive of special collections (from dance-related individuals, companies and organisations) and reference materials. The archive can be visited by appointment. The Cente also runs an annual programme of short courses for dance teachers (mainly of A Level and GCSE Dance,)and produces and distributes publications to support the study and teaching of dance. A general telephone, email and postal enquiry service is also operated.
